Kalamazoo-based Animal Rescue Project is holding its annual Lucky Paws Dinner and Silent Auction event Friday, March 15, at Western Michigan University’s Fetzer Center.

All proceeds from the event will go toward medical and other expenses to house and adopt the animals at the Animal Rescue Project shelter in Kalamazoo.

Ashley Bowman, one of the event coordinators, said the auction is the shelter’s largest annual event held each year to raise funds for animal medical expenses.

“The president of the shelter or another staff member give a speech at each event, thanking our donors and volunteers for the hard work they put in for the many trying medical experiences we encounter during the year,” Bowman said. “During the night, guests get a three-course meal and access to bid on the many items we display on our auction tables. All the items we receive are donated by local companies, corporations, and even from volunteers. The entertainment provided is different every year ranging from a guitarist to a Dixieland band.”

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased online at www.animalrescueproject.org until March 2. After March 2 and at the door tickets will be $50.
