Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removing a fetus before it can survive outside the uterus. Having an abortion removal is an extremely undermining choice to make and conveys with it genuine result. The procedure requires the pregnant, would-be mother to experience a system in which the baby in the uterus is executed and removed from the mother’s body. The choice to have this done could be an extremely deplorable one. It might feel like it is the proper activity at the time, yet later, the mother and father of the unborn child may wish that they had kept the child, and afterward it would be past the point of no return. Abortion needs to be eliminated because abortion takes the life of a human being, it has undisputed health risks and it negatively affects society and families.

Most religions, if not all, don’t allow abortion or the killing of innocent babies. Muslims, Christians and Jews believe that abortion is forbidden. If God and the law gave humans the right to life, then why would humans be willing to take those lives away from others?

Muslims believe that abortion is wrong and haram (forbidden). Having an abortion is no different than killing an innocent life. Author Ali Ahmed believes that, “Anyone who has had an abortion or wants to have an abortion should be punished.” Having an abortion is a crime and needs to be punished. Not only Muslims prohibit abortion, but Hindu also believe abortion is forbidden. Hindu scriptures refer to abortion as garha-batta (womb killing) and the Atharva Veda describes abortionists as the greatest of sinners. According to Bina Biswas, Gandhi, perhaps the most respected Hindu of the 20th century, said, “It seems to me clear as daylight that abortion would be a crime.” Traditional Hinduism and many modern Hindus also see abortion as a breach of the duty to produce children in order to continue the family and produce new members of society. Also, many Christians believe that abortion is wrong because of their belief that the act of abortion is murdering an unborn baby.

Another reason abortion should be illegal is because of health risks. Research has found that women who have abortions are at risk of severe health problems. A new study shows that surgical abortion can increase the risk of premature birth in future pregnancy. The study was performed by researchers at Thomas Jefferson University and involved analyzing 36 studies that enrolled more than 1 million women. The researchers found that the risk of future premature births after an abortion was small but significant, given the number of women who had surgical abortions. The study’s senior author, Dr. Vincenzo Berghella, director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, said that surgical abortion patients should “be informed about the potential risk to subsequent pregnancy.”

Many people may argue that abortion is not killing innocent life. This is may be true; however, having an abortion is just like murdering another person. So, what’s the difference between killing a baby or killing another person? The answer is there is no difference; both are souls that want to live. If abortions are not murder, and it’s legal, how can someone be charged with double homicide for killing a pregnant woman whose fetus dies because of the killing!

Abortion is a dangerous and tangled collection of many sins, and it affects every single individual. It is an issue that should continue to be fought against and remembered in prayers. Christianity, Islam and other religions can also take an active role in defending the rights of the unborn. The Lord said in Proverbs 31:8, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” Everyone should continue to pray, stand up for unborn children and live lives in a way that shows our love for every human being God has created. In conclusion, abortion needs to be eliminated and illegal and be only applicable in law as an option when the mother’s life is in danger.
