Kellogg Community College is bringing back its theatre program with auditions for a creative, digital interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” opening this week.

Individuals interested in auditioning for this show are welcome to audition either virtually or in person. Virtual auditions will be open from Sunday, Jan. 30, to Friday, Feb. 4, at 11:59 p.m. Alternatively, in-person auditions will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the Binda Performing Arts Center on KCC’s campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek. Everyone in the KCC service area is welcome to audition for this show, ages 16 and up.

To audition virtually, submit your information via the audition Google form. Virtual auditions will require memorization of a short portion of the script, while in-person auditions do not require any preparation.

Not only are auditions adapted to a virtual format, but the performances are as well. The performances, taking place the last two weekends in April, will be done as a free live-stream over Zoom. The actors will be performing around a 360-degree camera in the center of the stage, so the audience can view live theatre safely and remotely. Additionally, depending on KCC’s COVID protocols in April, some audience members may be allowed in the theater.

Rehearsals are currently intended to be in person, but some smaller aspects, such as dialogue and script analysis, may be done over Zoom. Rehearsals will take place Mondays through Fridays from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Binda Theatre.
