Battle Creek’s Sam Luna Band will open for Marshall singer-songwriter Jake Kershaw at the Franke Center for the Arts on Oct. 23.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the center, which is located at 214 E Mansion St in Marshall. Tickets for the event can be purchased ahead of time on thefranke.org for $34 or at the door for $36.

While this is the Sam Luna Bands’ first time performing at the Franke Center, the band has performed at other Marshall venues including Dark Horse Brewery and Riverside Pub and Grille.

Band leader Sam Luna said he’s excited to perform at a larger venue. Opening for Kershaw will provide the opportunity for creating new fans, he said.

“Playing in a venue like the Frank Center is one more step in our plans,” Luna said. “We’ve seen many shows here and loved them every time. The setup of the theatre really provides for a unique way to enjoy a concert. I really hope the people who come who might not know about us turn into new fans. We love what we do. We just hope the fans love our music as much as we do.”

The show also gives the band an opportunity to show off their new music

“Being able to show the people what my band and I can do is something we are super geeked about,” Luna said.
