KCC Foundation offering $75,000 in additional scholarships

The clock is ticking for students to apply for scholarships through the Kellogg Community College Foundation.

The foundation is offering up to 50 awards of $500 to $1,500 to qualified applicants who meet the Aug. 3 filing deadline.

“The KCC Foundation’s primary scholarship application deadline occurs in March each year,” Teresa Durham, Executive Director of the KCC Foundation, said. “We reopen the scholarship application window for students accepted to nursing and allied health programs as well as new students to KCC, thus the extended deadline date.”

Students must be accepted into KCC and have an application on file before applying for a general scholarship.

Students with at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average are given preference. Applicants with a lower GPA may be considered if they provide a recommendation letter from an instructor or advisor.

“Extending the application deadline provides an opportunity for the KCC foundation to serve additional students intending to enroll in the fall,” Durham said.

Awarded funds are credited to the recipient’s KCC financial account. The money can be used for tuition, fees and/or books or required supplies – but only at KCC.

Unused awards will not be refunded and KCC employees, spouses and dependents are not eligible.

Applicants are expected to answer each question to the best of their ability, include a student aid report. Military veterans must include a copy of DD form 214.

“Oftentimes a scholarship can make the difference in a student’s decision to attend college and we want to support them in their educational goals.”

Teresa Durham, Executive Director of the KCC Foundation
