Kellogg Community College has many fun things to do, however many kids feel like they don’t know where to look or who to talk to when trying to find things to get involved in. Here are a few things that kids around the KCC campus can do to get involved with their college and fellow students.

During the month of December there are numerous activities that students can attend. Sierra M. Thurmond, member of the student life staff, was able to provide a list of the many different activities throughout the month. The following event will all be held at 450 North Ave. on KCC’s main campus.

On Dec. 5 through Dec. 9: KCC will have Stress Busters. An annual semester event held by Student Life to help students power through finals week. This semester will have Faculty, Flapjacks, and Finals on Dec. 6, where the faculty will be flipping flapjacks for students. They will also have a cotton candy vendor in the student center on Dec. 7, which will be giving away free cotton candy.

On Dec. 4 at 3 p.m., KCC will be holding Christmas Around the World by KCC Concert Band. Located in the Binda Performing Arts Center.

This event will have plenty of free KCC swag and prizes for Students as well as a free lunch! The theme this semester is glow in the dark.”

For students that are looking to become more involved with KCC, there are many different clubs that kids can join. Some of the active clubs include Art League, Book Club, Campus Republicans, Crude Arts Club, Education Club, Encore Theatre Club, Environment Club, FriendChip (Cookie Baking) Club, Kampus Activities Board (KAB), Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Club, Spectrum, Student American Dental Hygiene Association (SADHA), Students of Color Club, Student Nursing Association (SNA), Tech Club, True Life Christian Fellowship, and Women’s Club.

For student athletes that are looking for a sport to try. For men’s sports KCC offers baseball, basketball, bowling and cross country. For women’s sports, KCC offers basketball, bowling, cross country, soccer and volleyball.

For students that are curious about where they can pass time around campus, KCC has many different areas for students to explore. A few would be the first floor of the library, which is a quiet place with a great view of Spring Lake, it is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery or read a good book. Another good spot is the community garden behind the library. This is a great spot for those looking to get outside and in touch with nature. There is also Miller Gym, any student can use the weightlifting room or rent equipment for free with a valid Student ID. This is another great way to pass your time in-between classes.

There is also the student center, which is another great place to hang out with friends in-between classes. In the student center there are many different video games to play with your friends and it is right around the corner from the Bruin Bistro. `

When asked for any additional information or advice for the students of KCC, Sierra Thurmond said “There’s plenty of opportunities out there for you to explore! Your college experience is what you make it. So ask questions, read the posters and advertisements informing about events on campus, and follow Kellogg Community College on social media platforms to stay up to date on what’s happening on campus.”
