At a special Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday night, the Board approved the contract for the new KCC president Dr. Adrien Bennings.

Her official start date will be Jan. 6, 2020, and her term runs through June 30, 2022.

The compensation package includes a base salary of $167,500 with a considered adjustment after a year, a monthly vehicle and officeholder allowance, a one-time relocation payment, and contributions to a retirement package.

At the meeting, Board Chair Steve Claywell said that the Board reached out to media outlets for newspaper articles or documentation of new presidents’ salaries and compensation rates while they were negotiating this contract with Dr. Bennings.

“We made it directly comparable and I believe that before you is a fair and equitable proposal to Dr. Bennings,” Claywell said at the meeting. “It is consistent with the community college salaries and compensation packages of the new presidents within the state of Michigan.”
