Kellogg Community College held its first Bruins Give Back event of the fall semester on the last Friday of September at the Charitable Union in Battle Creek

About KCC 20 students volunteered during the event to organize and sort hats, gloves and winter coats for the Charitable Union’s upcoming Winter Coat Event. KCC President Mark O’Connell was also there to help sort clothes with the volunteers.

Teresa Allen, chief executive officer at the Charitable Unions, said there is more to the organization than just clothes.

For example, families that are in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, which provides health and nutrition resources for low-income mothers and children, are given formula. The organization also provides those in need with other resources like women’s hygiene products and health education.

The Charitable Union also donates dresses and suits to those who need them for their school prom.
